Society for Health Education (SHE) is looking for a suitable candidate for the following post.

COUNSELLOR

Qualification: Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Counselling or psychology
Requirements:

  • Must be a Maldivian
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word and Excel), typing Dhivehi
  • Able to adapt to changing work conditions and assignments
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in both English and Divehi
  • Willing and able to multi-task
  • Focused and target oriented
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Able to work extended hours & travel on occasions when required
  • Capacity to take responsibility for own actions and demonstrate a non-
  • Judgmental approach towards others.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships, with the team, colleagues, members, supporters and external partners
  • Carry out the duties in accordance with SHE’s policies and procedures. 

Key responsibilities and Accountabilities:

- Work with individuals, families and groups to provide support in dealing with issues that affect their mental health and well-being.
- Contributing to the planning, implementing of the counselling (telephone and face to face) services.
- Contributing in planning and conducting awareness raising sessions on mental health related topics
- Coordinating with relevant SHE departments to ensure integrated service delivery
- Supporting and providing input into IEC resource development
- Attending radio, television and other public relations presentations on request
- Maintaining the credibility of the counselling programme
- Follow good standards of practice and care, which requires professional competence; good relationships with clients and colleagues; and commitment to and observance of professional ethics.
- Participating in awareness programmes held in the islands, such as health festivals, screening trips and multi-purpose health trips.
- Representing SHE in MHPSS related meetings and coordination groups.
- Holding self accountable for making decisions, managing resources efficiently, and role modelling SHE’s values

Salary: MVR 8,680.00-11,120.00 (subject to qualification and experience)
Additional: Post is open for Maldivians only.
